Captain Rubber Duck’s Activity Day 2022
Between 10:00 and 15:00 on Sunday 22nd of May, the outdoor area of Forum Marinum Maritime Centre will be filled with joy and laughter as Captain Rubber Duck and his many friends organise fun things to do for children all day!
The activities will include making friends with alpacas, riding hobby horses and climbing rope ladders. The event will offer 27 stations with different activities from sports to crafts and quizzes. In addition, two stages will offer hilarious entertainment all day. The diverse performances on the main stage will naturally be introduced by Captain Rubber Duck himself, and as the stars of the Activity Day will be seen the highly popular characters of Mimi and Kuku with their performance, ‘Treasure Island in sight’!
Children will spend an unforgettable day visiting the 27 fun activity stations at this event.
Activity stations in the outdoor area of Forum Marinum
- Climb a rope ladder provided by Flowpark
- Step inside a real fire engine
- I wonder what there is inside an ambulance?
- At the Electric Mobile Library, you can borrow and return books and other materials
- Try riding an electric bike - why not cycle to Turku castle and back!
- Enter your toy in the soft toy pet competition between 12 and 13
- Experience the softness of alpacas from 11 to 14
- Clown trio Three Noses will be going around the area from 12 to 14 and give young visitors a taste of summer at the Adventure Park
- Paavo Nurmi Festival will lead children’ physical activities
- Come and make origami boats with the Organization for Children
- Make your own river boat at Mannerheim League for Child Welfare's station
- Do gymnastics with Lahjan Tytöt
- Hop onto one of Forum Marinum’s hobby seahorses and see if you can take the jumps
- Challenge yourself at Pyrkivä Gymnastics’ try-out station
- Pet Taikatassut’s care dogs
- Play a Turku-themed memory game and draw new cards for it at Turkuseura Association's station
- Practise throwing rings with Captain Hook in Neverland
- Try on old time diving gear
- Have a spin on the river in Storbåt AURA's tar-smelling traditional boat
- Play ball with FC Inter
- Have your picture taken with Jungle Book characters
- Gallop through an obstacle course on your hobby horse. Also a hobby horse exhibition from 12 to 14
- Come and meet Prinssi the pony and spin the Equestrian Federation's wheel of fortune
- Innotutka’s station offers children's books, quizzes and an obstacle course. Circus artist Kai Kuutamo will be going round the area from 11 to 14
- Make hand jewellery and pictures with a maritime theme with 4H Association
- Visit Turun Suzukikoulu’s instrument try-out workshop
- Get to know fish in the River Aurajoki – see them and touch them, and try to catch them in play or in real life!
In addition to the activity stations, Captain Rubber Duck’s Activity Day will have two stages with all-day entertainment!

Captain Rubber Duck’s Activity Day will be organised by the City of Turku and Forum Marinum. Captain Rubber Duck’s Activity Day is part of the River Harbour Festival that marks the launch of a summer of maritime events in Turku. Admission to most of the events on the weekend on May 20–22, 2022 will be free for the public. For more information visit www.turku.fi/en/river-harbour.
